yesterday was my last day at work. for the past 1 month, i have been feeling really excited about the day and cant wait for it to arrive. but yesterday, i felt a tinge of sadness and thought i will miss the kids alot as well as most of my colleagues.
there are a few kids whom i will definitely miss. the atrocious things they have done or the nicest things they have performed. there is this one kid. he is notably the smartest across the level. he looks cold blooded and does not like cartoons cause he thinks they're too childish. he watches news every night and hardly smiles. so i try to make him smile and whenever i see him smile, i feel very accomplished=) yesterday, i had one lollipop left on my table. i took it down to the canteen. as i scanned around for potential pupil to hand over my only 1 lollipop, i saw him. i went up to him and gave him the lollipop. i sat down and waited for my colleague to come down for our break. so he spoke to me.
he: miss ang, why are u giving me a lollipop?
me: oh because you have been a very good and smart student. and today is my last day here
he: where are you going?
me: to study, uni
he: which one?
me: national university of singapore
he: NUS?
me: yea.
he: will you be coming back?
me: eh i dont think so. haha
then he hestitated and his eyes darted. so i asked him yes? and he said
miss ang i will miss you very much.
OMG! my heart melted. to think these words came out from his mouth. i replied the same and told him keep up his good work.
hais i think i will miss a couple of other students who have made my life in school so much fun and enriching. a couple of colleagues also wished us all the best. haha i think i will most probably go back 4years later and see who are some of the top scorers=D till then, i hope i will get a chance to see them somewhere and they will still come up to me and say,' hello miss ang!'=D
